As I am neither a bird watcher nor a bird expert, nonetheless, the battle waged between a tiny swallow-like bird and a big nasty raven in front of our house was impressive.
Especially considering the swallow-like grey-brown bird was less than a ¼ the size of the giant black raven. The crow/raven was clearly after the swallow-like bird’s eggs.  The courage, love and tenacity displayed by the little momma-bird, as she dive-bombed - and sometimes hit - the raven was inspiring.
After surfing yesterday, I went into our backyard and found, on the grass, what I thought was a water bottle cap. It was half of a tiny egg shell. My heart almost broke.

Sometimes the bad guys win. It is the struggle against them that counts.
